In The Prince Warriors series, you follow along with the lives of middle schoolers as they journey through the spiritual world of Ahoratas with the help of the Ruwach, their guide, resembling the Holy Spirit. I’m thankful to say that she did a wonderful job of depicting each piece of the armor of God AND how to use it in our daily lives throughout this four-book series. They seemed like wholesome, Christian books that we would enjoy, but I was unsure about how Shirer would be able to responsibly apply the armor of God to our daily lives without adding too much science fiction and making it unbelievable and therefore inapplicable. When I heard of The Prince Warriors series by Priscilla Shirer, I was a bit skeptical. However, it can be challenging to apply Biblical principles to your everyday life when you’re 8 years old and haven’t lived very long and you can’t completely grasp the Biblical principles to start with. Last summer, he and I memorized (and studied) the armor of God and were fascinated by all that we learned. In fact, he is reading above his grade level which can present a challenge in finding wholesome books that he is able to read, that he wants to read, and whose content is appropriate for his maturity level. He is an only child who loves to be active (is always on the go), play with Legos and superheroes, who enjoys screen time like most kids, but he also loves to read. My son is very unique, as every mother would say.
